How I Make My Perfect Cup of Coffee

I LOVE coffee. Coffee is life. In fact, coffee and I have a very special relationship. Nothing will ever come between us. Don’t believe me? Check out the poem I once wrote about my love for the magical bean juice.

Now that we have this understanding, let’s move on to the details. How do I like to make my morning brew? First, let’s talk beans! I always buy whole beans and grind them fresh myself. My favorite bean right now is Kicking Horse Grizzly Claw Dark Roast. Once I grind the beans and add them to the filter, I will sprinkle in some cinnamon and/or nutmeg, depending on my mood. In the winter, I like to add a little cocoa powder.

I currently brew my coffee with my Ninja coffee maker. I like having the option to brew different sizes, from extra small (never used that option!) to an entire pot. Let’s face it, some days require the entire pot!

Now, I don’t know if this is because I’ve been completely assimilated in my new home country of Canada, but I take my coffee with maple syrup. Yes, you read that correctly — maple syrup. And on days I feel like a special treat, I’ll add a splash of half & half or even heavy cream to give it a rich, creamy texture.

What is your favourite way to make coffee?
