Fool

Fool me once,
What a shame!

Fool me twice,

Myself to blame..

Too self-aware,

And self-assured

To take care,

Warning signs ignored.

But fool me once again,

Lesson I too slowly learn,

I’ll toss over the torch,

And watch the bridge burn.
